Seitaro Iki better know as “Say” has been living San Francisco for the last 10 months as he studied abroad and cut loose with us. I’m sad to say that today was his last day here in the States as tomorrow he flies back to his hometown of Fukuoka Japan. We enjoyed his final hours here by doing what we always do, hanging out and occasionally try a trick or two.
Dave Beard hooked it up with this exclusive photo of Mike Schmitt blasting a gap to wallride at the Alameda Skatepark a while back. I don’t think his back tire could get much higher up on that wall. Shout out to the team for looking alive and making a quick cameo in the background. Photo Credit : Dave Beard
Dave Beard is constantly taking photos on a range of cameras when he comes out riding with us. He took these medium format shots of me riding on the East Bay as we wrapped up filming for “Word Is Bond”. I enjoy the mystery of shooting on film, you never know how it’s going to turn out. That being said, there’s something suspicious going on in the bottom photo. Photo Credit : Dave Beard
Check out this Nissan car commercial Forest Parker, Matt Montoya, and myself rode in. We had a hard time grasping the concept of the shoot at first and had a good laugh after seeing the final product. It’s been playing all over the place these last couple months, if you haven’t already seen it, now you have.
Last weekend Mike Schmitt and I were in desperate need to get out of the house, so we grabbed our jackets and rode out into the rain. We headed to the abandoned military base near our house and came across some rather interesting spots. It’s been so long since it rained that I had almost forgotten how much fun it can be.
I found this sequence of Mike Schmitt from the Shredwell 2 days earlier this morning. If you bought the digital download you may recognize it from the set of wallpapers that came with it. Seeing this photo makes me want to revisit this spot and film something new on them this year. Be on the lookout for both SW2 as well as the new Turf video “Word Is Bond” coming out for free online.
Wheel Talk would like to welcome Thailand’s very own Jaoa Danaikrit as the newest member to the WT Team. Filmed in the Bay Area over the course of his 3 month stay in America. Jaoa is one of the most impressive riders I’ve ever had the privilege of shooting. He bring tricks to the table that not very many other riders have, take his monstrous icepicks and his lengthy nose manuals for instance. I’d like to go ahead and thank Jeff Dempler, Devon Lawson & Dew Sippawit for helping film this edit. Click the read more to check out a bunch of screen shots from the video.

A while back I spent some time w/ Ed Wonka Laforte at his pad in Brooklyn NY. On our way to and from the Williamsburg Bridge we began to notice a bunch of people working on covering an entire city block with Nekst fills. It’s rad to see the community come together to honor a fallen friend. RIP Nekst.
Today I did some digging though our archives and came across this post that was put together but never published. I figured there’s no time like the present, and that we better get this out there before we enter into the new year. A while back Jeff Dempler made it down to Venice Beach, in Southern California for the 2013 Summer Fix. He spent most of his time behind the camera capturing most of the madness that went down that weekend. Jakob Santos blew everyone away with the huge wallrides he was blasting out of the quarter pipe against the handball court. Elliott Milner destroyed the flat rail, Joe Mckeag clicked some dialed tabletops, and our dude Valentin Racho threw barspins over just about every obstacle there. Click the “Read More” button below to check out the rest of Jeff’s photo set. (more…)
Tommy Mao has been going to school and living in San Francisco for quite some time now. Occasionally he comes out to shred and explore what street spots SF has to offer. I took this picture of him posted up in front of a Mexican market in The Mission a while ago. If anybody has seen Tommy lately, they know this is an older photo of him solely based on the fact that he’s missing the manly beard he’s developed over the last couple of months. There’s nothing like a couple chin hairs to make you look 10 older. Be on the lookout for more photos of Tommy mobbing around w/ us.
