We’re meeting up at Madison Park (Lake Merritt Bart) and are riding spot to spot giving out prizes at every stop along the way. I’m pretty sure I shot more photos on 35mm film than I did on my digital camera this year and have a box full of prints to show for it. If you ever come by the house, ask me about it and I’ll show you. Until then check out some of these shots of Mike Schmitt on our morning commutes, lunch breaks from work and weekend sessions around the city. I’m really stoked on how a couple of these double exposures turned out and am finally starting to figure out the formula. Check out more 35mm photos HERE.

After burning through a couple rolls of film trying to figure out how to shoot double exposures, I managed to get a few shots that I think turned out half way decent. I’m not sure if Devon Lawson has ever taken a bad picture, but these could be the best shots I’ve ever taken of him. Now that we’re all moved into our new spot in SF, I want to start bringing my Olympus OM1 out with us when we ride more often. Read more below or check out more 35mm Photos HERE.

Double Exposures were something that I experimented with quite a bit when I first started shooting 35mm film, and have since then fallen out of touch with this drunken sense of double vision. Here’s some of the first few double exposures I took, featuring Fixed Gear Freestyle’s very own Ed “Wonnka” Laforte. Although it may sometimes be difficult to see, I enjoy the added interest stacking shots gives to the photograph. Case and point being the image on top that shows both a closeup and wide shot of the same grind. Read more below or check out other 35mm photos HERE.

If there’s one thing I miss about living in Alameda, it’s the skatepark hidden away in the abandoned military base on the island. Here’s a shot of Jaoa Danaikrit doing a foot jam whip and Devon Lawson throwing a T-Bog over the ledge splitting the fun box. It’s great having both scans and prints of these photos, to share with people not only online, but in person as well. Check out more 35mm shots HERE.
With public transportation reigning supreme in the Bay Area, it’s rare that we ride anywhere that isn’t within range of the bus, bart, train, ferry, or riding to the spot. It’s always great having Dave Beard come out to take behind the scenes photos when we go out to ride. This day was the first time I did a tooth hangover down a handrail or 360 over gap with a fatal drop. After a successful day of being guided from spot to spot by Ramon Antonio, we wrapped up the day by hitting the Vallejo Skatepark before we headed home. Check out more photos from our trip to Vallejo HERE.

Mike T. Schmitt’s bike was out of commission most of the day, but that didn’t stop him from riding the bowl at the local skatepark and catching these two photos. Mike is the only person I see attempting handplants on a regular basis, and has been doing so for years. Check out more photos from our trip to Vallejo HERE.

With Bart only running as far north as Richmond, we needed alternate transportation to make the trek to ride street spots in Vallejo. Ramon Antonio III came through w/ the Rack Solid Van, making it possible for this trip to happen. I’ve never seen Ramon ride as hard as he did that day, catching clips on every rail spot we went to. Double peg up & down to cab, Xup over the rail, Pegs to Suicide, etc. Check out more photos from our trip to Vallejo on Dave’s Blog HERE or read more below.

Last Summer I flew out to New York with Dew Sippawit and stayed at Ed “Wonka” Laforte’s house in Brooklyn. Here’s a handful of older photos that were taken during our two week stay and never released until now. If you went to the Word Is Bond Premiere in SF then you’ve probably already seen the sequence wallride off the red cellar door. Or if you’ve watched the Wheel Talk 2013 Edit I put out last year then I’m sure you recognize the clip. Aside from that, It was rad riding the spot where Peel Sessions was held (beneath a bridge in Brooklyn). A location that may as well been known as the birthplace of FGFS. If you haven’t heard of it until now, I suggest you do some digging into the history of Fixed Gear Freestyle and get up to speed. Check out some more photos from NY HERE. Photo Credit – Dew Sippawit
