We’ve been gearing up for the release of Word Is Bond for quite some time now and have never generated this type of hype for a free online video before. Usually the only videos that have premiere’s are DVD’s, but considering the amount of time we spent making this monumental video, we decided to make an exception. Here’s a bunch of 35mm shots that we took last weekend for the third installment of the TURF Sundaze Series. There’s few things more rewarding than shooting action shots on film. It’s a fingers crossed kind of business where knowledge of your craft makes all the difference. For this week’s installment Mike Schmitt & I showed up at Ed’s house unannounced. Part of which made me feel like a kid again, back when showing up to a friend’s house to see if they can come out and play was mandatory. After a some morning breakfast at Ed’s we headed into Oakland in search of new shit to shred. This is it folks, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Here’s the official dates for the Turf Bikes “Word Is Bond” Video Premieres. We’ll be having 2 events before the internet release on April 20th. The San Francisco Premiere will be at Lower Branch in the Tenderloin. Admission will be 2 dollars and we’ll be having a photo exhibition as well. Dave Beard, Ed Wonka & I collaborated to compile some of the better photos we’ve shot this year. On April 12th we’re having another ride / premiere in San Jose. We’re meeting up in Down Town SJ around 4 and riding spots until we head over to iMiNUSD. Doors open at 7:30 and the video starts at 8PM. Read more below for links to maps of each location, and the last couple ads of each member of the Turf Mob.

I saw this photo on Froots of our good friend Seitaro Iki at the Devour Films Exhibition that’s going on all this week. It’s rare to see prints of digital photos which is why I was stoked when I saw Say standing next to a photograph he took of Devon Lawson & I (Matt Reyes) while he lived in SF. Check out more HERE
On our overseas adventure we traveled to Japan’s oldest skatepark where we spent the day cruising around while eating Japanese BBQ. Directly next to this ancient skatepark was what appeared to be a small scale amusement park with only a few people there. Ed Wonka, Devon Lawson, Jaoa Danaikrit and I had a fun time figuring out how to ride this strange playground until we got the boot. Apparently great minds think alike because we all ended up doing a mixture of wall ride combinations. Devon w/ the curved wall, Ed hitting the wall ride 180 getting a taste of his sweat towel in the process, and Matt Reyes (myself) with the whale stall. I think Jaoa has some sort of Pinocchio complex because he looks a little too stoked to be in the belly of the beast.
Everyday I make my way in and out of San Francisco by passing beneath miles of steel that make up the Bay Bridge. Living across the water has given me a greater appreciation for the city than living in it ever has. We have the good view of The City here in the East Bay, especially at dusk. Shout out to Mike Schmitt for shooting this photo of me doing a hard 180 in front of an audience of statues guarding the chapel’s double doors. I just dropped off a couple more rolls this week, and can’t wait to see how they turn out. Check out more 35mm captures HERE.

Here’s a couple photos that Devon Lawson took of me while we were hanging out in The Mission a while back. If there’s one thing The Mission is good for, it’s quality Mexican food and toys that only cost you a quarter. Check out one of my favorite Premier Fits hats from their tropical series. They’re always coming out with some of the sickest headwear and always encorporate wild fabrics / materials.
Our journey to Japan Last year was a trip that I’ll never forget. We traveled all over the island and saw everything from the lush green farm fields that blanketed the southern tip of Japan, to the dense inner city of Shibuya Tokyo. Although we were only there for a couple short weeks we were able to do a 9 State Tour w/ a bunch of the dudes from Fukuoka and spend some time in Tokyo w/ Marco. The weather was so bloody humid the entire time, that we all became accustomed to carrying around a towel everywhere. We’re going to have to plan another tour in Japan next year.

Yesterday a building in the neighborhood I work in caught on fire and had the whole city talking. If you live anywhere near San Francisco I’m sure you saw pictures of the blaze or perhaps even took some yourself. Smoke could be seen billowing into the sky from across the Bay as the firefighters attempted to fight back the flames. Bryan Dempler & I showed up the next day to find that they were still hosing down the building from nearly every angle on the block. We hung out until we could tell they wanted us to jet, at which point we packed our bags and shot a couple more photos along the Muni tracks on 3rd Street. I wonder what’s for lunch tomorrow?
