With the rain holding up for the day, we took advantage of the cloudy weather to ride in the eye of the storm we seem to be stuck in. Gus Molina took the ferry into The City to meet up with us and ride around Japan Town. Ramon Antonio & I both stacked a couple rail clips to add to the ever growing pile off footage we’ve been sitting on. Mike Schmitt found this hubba and thought he had a spot until the run up proved to be too short, so we quickly labeled it “wack” and moved on. As quickly as I mentioned it stopped raining, it went right back to dumping buckets and looks like its going to continue to do so for the rest of the week. Check out more photos below, or lurk through photos from some of the other Sunday adventures we’ve had in the past.

We spent the Sunday before Ride & Style riding around California St & China Town. Mike Schmitt rolled the edge of the China Banks that drop off onto the street below. Dave Beard popped off some great B&W medium format shots of Ramon Antonio III riding pegs down an alley way rail and hopping into this 8 flat 9. Check out some more 35mm photos I shot of everyone down below.
Last Sunday Mike Schmitt & I cruised around our humble island abode here in Alameda and brought along with us the trusty 35mm Camera. We lurked around the abandoned military base & rode along the incredibly windy coastline in search of spots in less than likely locations. I came across an old truck bench that we pulled out of the trash and sessioned for a bit. After catching a couple quick photos we ventured into the tall grass along the coast and circled back into the old Naval Base where Mike rolled this barred fence that was propped up against another. I was the most stoked to find this teeter totter that we had previously thought was gone for good after its recent disappearance. Check out more photos below, and stay tuned for the next episode of TURF Sundaze. (more…)
Given the fact that we shoot most of our stills on 35mm film, the TURF Sundaze posts are always about a week behind. Last Sunday we roamed around Oakland with Egg The Dog, a regular addition to The Mob. He’s either strapped to Mike’s back or running along side us as we lurked from spot to spot. Check out more photos below. (more…)
Here’s a bunch of 35mm shots that we took last weekend for the third installment of the TURF Sundaze Series. There’s few things more rewarding than shooting action shots on film. It’s a fingers crossed kind of business where knowledge of your craft makes all the difference. For this week’s installment Mike Schmitt & I showed up at Ed’s house unannounced. Part of which made me feel like a kid again, back when showing up to a friend’s house to see if they can come out and play was mandatory. After a some morning breakfast at Ed’s we headed into Oakland in search of new shit to shred. We caught a couple flicks and then headed back into Alameda where we explored some abandoned buildings on the base. Check out more photos from last Sunday below. Photo Credit : The Turf Mob (more…)
Yesterday Dave Beard met up w/ Ed Wonka, Mike Schmitt, Andy Sparks, & Alberto Fox to shred some street spots in the East Bay. Sunday’s always seem to be the day when everyone is available and when most businesses are closed. This weekly window gives us a chance to ride spots that are usually an immediate bust. Last Sunday was like most Sundays. Dave Beard came by, we picked up some pizza and cruised around Alameda in search of spots. Dave has a knack for shooting behind the scenes photos while we’re out filming. Consider this the first installment of a new series we’re starting; Sundaze with the Turf Mob.
