Gary Zhen’s 93′ Cannondale Track. Anytime somebody wheeled a rad track bike into Chrome HQ I’d pull it into our makeshift studio and get some quick stills of it. I’m starting to acquire quite a few playing cards at this point. It feels like I’m back to playing Pokemon. Gotta catch em all. I’ll be getting the studio put back together this week and will be making a call to arms for anybody in Portland who wants their bike photographed. I’ll keep you posted. RED HOOK CRIT – BROOKLYN 2017

It’s like Nascar, but with fixies. With all of the excitement of everything going on in Barcelona this weekend I figured it would be proper to pull up some photos from the 10th Red Hook Crit in Brooklyn. I’m always stoked to be able to shoot this race for Chrome Industries and after filming Mission Crit the week before. The excitement was high.

The best part about these races are that they always feel like huge family reunions. People watching is a real close second though. I shot this year’s race with one camera and one lens. A fixed 50m. You can either bring it all or pack light. And after getting hit by a car the week before, I wasn’t trying to carry much of anything. This race just keeps getting bigger and I look forward to seeing where they take it next.

ED WONKA – NYC APRIL 2017

You can’t show up to NYC without paying respects to the fixie godfather Ed “Wonka” Laforte. First thing I did when I got to town was give him a call, and to no surprise he already knew I was in town. Ear to the pavement I guess. We cruised over to Chari & Co, met up with Jason Sellers and Terry Barentsen, grabbed a loaner bike and hit the streets rollin.

It’s good to see that Ed still has his explosive barspins in the bag. There are few dudes that ride as aggressive as he does. Press play on the video above and see for yourself. Terry always delivers the goods when it comes to quality, and this one day video is no exception.

35MM – MASSAN FLUKER

Massan Fluker rolled into The Bay Area just in time to be here to see the Golden State Warriors win the 2015 NBA Championships. These photos are mad old at this point, but I figured they were still worth the share. This was the first time we got the Chrome Familia together in what seemed like forever. Jealous of the sweet Warriors memorabilia. Those shades look sick af.

Dusted some cobwebs off of these photos and got them up in cyberspace. I’m pretty sure this was the first time I met Alonso Tal. If I remember correctly, don’t take my word for it. These were from the Chrome Familia photoshoot we did in San Francisco / Oakland back in 2015. I guess it’s true what they say. Time flies when you’re having fun.

There’s nothing like digging up old photos to bring back memories. Sometimes it feels like you’re resurrecting the dead with the things you almost forgotten about. I’m sure I’m not the only one who looks through my phone in the morning to piece together what happened the night before. A photo can take you right back to that place and helps paint a clearer image in your mind.

INTERVIEW – JOSH SILVA
