TURF BIKES | SUNDAZE EP.2

Yesterday Dave Beard met up w/ Ed Wonka, Mike Schmitt, Andy Sparks, & Alberto Fox to shred some street spots in the East Bay. Sunday’s always seem to be the day when everyone is available and when most businesses are closed. This weekly window gives us a chance to ride spots that are usually an immediate bust. Check out more photos on Dave’s Blog HERE. Photo Credit : Dave Beard (more…)

35MM | MOB MENTALITY

I rarely shoot digital photos anymore and use my dslr strictly for video purposes. Now a days most of the photography I do is done on 35mm film with an Olympus OM1. Here’s some of the last photos I shot of Seitaro Iki before he flew back to Japan the next morning. Everyone came out to say goodbye to Seitaro at one point or another, but for the most part we cruised around in force like we always do. He made a lot of friends while he was here we were all torn to see him leave. I think Andy Sparks put it best, “This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later”. Check out more 35mm photos HERE (more…)

JAPAN TRIP | ANCIENT RUINS

On our overseas adventure we traveled to Japan’s oldest skatepark where we spent the day cruising around while eating Japanese BBQ. Directly next to this ancient skatepark was what appeared to be a small scale amusement park with only a few people there. Ed Wonka, Devon Lawson, Jaoa Danaikrit and I had a fun time figuring out how to ride this strange playground until we got the boot. Apparently great minds think alike because we all ended up doing a mixture of wall ride combinations. Devon w/ the curved wall, Ed hitting the wall ride 180 getting a taste of his sweat towel in the process, and Matt Reyes (myself) with the whale stall. I think Jaoa has some sort of Pinocchio complex because he looks a little too stoked to be in the belly of the beast.

35MM | MATT REYES IVORY GATES

Everyday I make my way in and out of San Francisco by passing beneath miles of steel that make up the Bay Bridge. Living across the water has given me a greater appreciation for the city than living in it ever has. We have the good view of The City here in the East Bay, especially at dusk. Shout out to Mike Schmitt for shooting this photo of me doing a hard 180 in front of an audience of statues guarding the chapel’s double doors. I just dropped off a couple more rolls this week, and can’t wait to see how they turn out. Check out more 35mm captures HERE.

DEVON LAWSON | PREMIER FITS

Last weekend I needed to pick up a new memory card, so Devon Lawson & I headed over to our neighborhood Target to scoop one up. Moments after picking up the new card I shot these photos of him hopping through some strange architecture they had out front of the building. We’ve been riding for Premier Fits for a minute now and this western style strap back of theirs is too fresh. Check out more of the headwear they have available at their online store. TURF BIKES | SUNDAZE EP.1

Last Sunday was like most Sundays. Dave Beard came by, we picked up some pizza and cruised around Alameda in search of spots. Dave has a knack for shooting behind the scenes photos while we’re out filming. Consider this the first installment of a new series we’re starting; Sundaze with the Turf Mob. Click Below to see more fly on the wall shots he took throughout the day. Photo Credit : Dave Beard (more…)

DEW SIPPAWIT | FEDERAL BANKS

Either Dew Sippawit has a twin or I need glasses. I took this photo of him while we filmed for his SKYLMT Part after last year’s Red Bull Ride & Style. With this year’s R&S rounding the corner, I’ve grown increasingly more anxious to see everyone, and need to start getting a head count for who will be staying at our pad. The city can haterblock the Federal banks as much as they’d like, at the end of the day there’s nothing that’ll stop us from riding this gem of a spot. Challenge accepted. On a less relevant note, I think I see a Zane beast lurking in the brush.

PREMIER FITS | TROPICAL SERIES

Here’s a couple photos that Devon Lawson took of me while we were hanging out in The Mission a while back. If there’s one thing The Mission is good for, it’s quality Mexican food and toys that only cost you a quarter. Check out one of my favorite Premier Fits hats from their tropical series. They’re always coming out with some of the sickest headwear and always encorporate wild fabrics / materials.

JAOA DANAIKRIT | RAINBOW RIDE

If you’ve ever met Jaoa Danaikrit, then I’m sure you’ll agree when I say that he’s one funny ass dude. On our trip to Japan he decided he was going to ride down this rainbow slide at this nearly abandoned amusement park. That Fuck Your Life Tie Dye Shirt matches too well, which is probably why he felt the need to do it in the first place. Been on the lookout for more photos from the Wheel Talk Japan Trip.
