35MM | ED WONKA SOMA FIRE

Last week Ed Wonka showed up to my work right as a massive fire broke out in the Soma here in San Francisco. We quickly grabbed our bikes and smashed over to the block where the fire was brewing. As we came up on the building we could feel the heat from the flames and the mist of the water being blasted at it’s exterior. We shot photos until we could tell it was getting out of hand, at which point we retreated back to watch the fire from a safe distance. 35mm Olympus OM1 Click below to see more. (more…)

WHEEL TALK JAPAN | TOUR VAN

Our journey to Japan Last year was a trip that I’ll never forget. We traveled all over the island and saw everything from the lush green farm fields that blanketed the southern tip of Japan, to the dense inner city of Shibuya Tokyo. Although we were only there for a couple short weeks we were able to do a 9 State Tour w/ a bunch of the dudes from Fukuoka and spend some time in Tokyo w/ Marco. The weather was so bloody humid the entire time, that we all became accustomed to carrying around a towel everywhere. We’re going to have to plan another tour in Japan next year.

MIKE SCHMITT SCREEN SHOTS

As promised here’s some more screen shots from the upcoming Turf Bikes video “Word Is Bond“. I’m in the midst of wrapping up editing the last couple sections and adding the icing on top of the cake. We’ve been filming over the last year and finally have something that we feel strongly about and are just about ready to share w/ the world. Until then you’ll just have to soak in these screen shots of Mike Schmitt. (more…)

MATT REYES | TRUCKS & TRAINS

Yesterday a building in the neighborhood I work in caught on fire and had the whole city talking. If you live anywhere near San Francisco I’m sure you saw pictures of the blaze or perhaps even took some yourself. Smoke could be seen billowing into the sky from across the Bay as the firefighters attempted to fight back the flames. Bryan Dempler & I showed up the next day to find that they were still hosing down the building from nearly every angle on the block. We hung out until we could tell they wanted us to jet, at which point we packed our bags and shot a couple more photos along the Muni tracks on 3rd Street. I wonder what’s for lunch tomorrow?

BREEZY EXCURSION | BAY AREA

The ferry is my method of choice when crossing The Bay to and from SF everyday. Bryan Dempler hitched a ride w/ me on our way to Alameda last Saturday to film with a bunch of the local Fixed Freestyle scene here in the Bay Area. That Best (Breezy Excursion) Tee pops off too hard and rings a subtle truth. The Bay is one of the best places to live. It has weather like you wouldn’t believe, one of the largest FGFS communities out there, and a public transportation system allows you to go where ever without having to own an automobile. Personally I don’t have the patience to sit in traffic and prefer to blow hitting obstacles along the way, but that’s just me.

DEVON LAWSON | DOUBLE TIRE

I shot this photo of Devon Lawson doing a double tire ride along this rubber tube that was loosely attached to some wall in the Mission. There’s nothing like a Burrito from Los Coyotes to give you the energy of an ox and the strength of ten men.

ALEX BLANCO | SPIKE & BB17

This is it folks, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. After nearly a year of anticipation, Alex Blanco’s welcome to Breakbrake17 & Spike Parts video has finally arrived. Blanco is a big dude & can man handle that bike better than most. He’s taken his share of slams, but always seems to walk away unscathed. Shout out to Wheel Talk’s very own Jeff Dempler for filming and editing this hammer of a video. (more…)

MATT REYES | LUNCH BREAK

On today’s outing I hung out with some of the local wildlife, caught a couple clips and enjoyed a burger Bay side w/ my good friend Bryan Dempler. I’ve been meeting up w/ him during lunch a lot lately, and it’s been a real refreshing way to break up the work week. We’ve been roaming all over the city. Picking a different part of town everyday, while stacking quite a bit of footage for a documentary he’s working on. Stay tuned for more day to day coverage of some behind the scenes shots.

MATT REYES | SF CHINA TOWN

Earlier today I met up with Bryan Dempler to film a couple more interviews for a documentary he’s been working on. Between work and sleep it’s hard to find the time to film. Especially when the sun sets before we’re even out. That being said we’ve been finding the time to get shit done during our lunch breaks. Check out a couple of these stills he took while we kicked it in China Town here in San Francisco. Photo Credit : Bryan Dempler
