MASHSF – STEEL SS FRAMESET “SILVER SMOKE”

If you build it they will come. MASHSF has been cooking up fresh new frames of their own for quite some time now and the day has finally come for our first look at what they’ve been building. I hadn’t seen too much leading up to the release and was as stoked as anyone else to see what they whipped up. Here are some of the first photos I took of my new MASH Steel SS Frameset. I’m really feeling the Silver Smoke colorway Mike kicked over. It has this really rustic and worn look while still holding onto this brilliant shine. It’s truly a work of art and looks even better in person. If you’re in San Francisco anytime soon I suggest you swing by the shop and check it out. FIXED GEAR SAN FRANCISCO – LEON LI

Leon Li is one of those cats that I’d always see on my ride home. If I saw Leon, then it was pretty safe to say that Georges (Milk Tea Rider) was somewhere close by. Leon has a handful of different track builds, but this red Bridgestone frame is flossin. Steel frames and quill stems are always a winning combo It’s timeless look.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – RYAN JENNINGS’ AFFINITY LOPRO

Nothing quite beats the look of an LoPro frameset. The homie Ryan Jennings recently picked up an Affinity Cycles 10th Anniversary LoPro and it looks siiiick. I caught these photos of it during the first Roll Up & Roll Out rides we hosted. We were doing the old “stand to the side and take your hand outta frame” trick, but ended up going with these instead. For whatever reason they just felt better. I’m sure I’ll have more photos of this build to share in the future, but for now, just remember that “good days start with great jeans”. FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – CHRISTIAN SCHULTZ

Houston we have liftoff. Christian Schultz was one of the first fixie cats that I met out here in Portland. I saw him ripping through downtown with a couple other dudes on my first week in town. I knew right then and there that we’d be best friends. haha. Fast forward to yesterday where we finally linked up to hang out and do some riding. We didn’t go very far, but we sure did explore and capture a lot of photos along the way.

Check out these shots shots of Christian catching air and hanging out on this helipad we stopped at mid-way through the day. We’ve filmed there before, but it’s a backdrop that never gets old. I’m sure we’ll be back there again sometime soon. Until then check out Christian’s custom painted Cinelli Build. Some of my favorite stickers include “it takes 2 to 69”, Space Cowboy, the Canon decal, and last but not least, that hi-vis yellow Wheel Talk decal he slapped on a couple days ago. Teo Mazars came from France to hang out and ride bikes with us in San Francisco. It’s become such a destination for fixed gear over the years that it’s always been rad to meet people from all over the world without ever having to go anywhere. MASH PARALLAX – TURNING OF THE TIDE

This doesn’t happen where I’m from. For starters the trees in San Francisco never change colors. They’re green year round. But here in Portland not only do the trees change, but so do the seasons. I’m still scared to see what winter brings, but we’re hopeful and optimistic. Yesterday the combination of light and trees looked so good that I dropped everything, grabbed my camera and shot these quick photos of my track build. It’s a MASH SF Parallax frame, for those who are wondering, but you probably already knew that. I’ll stop talking now, check out more below.

I’d always run into him in the sunset, at the MASH shop, or somewhere along Market Street. He’s always on this bike. MASH SF – 10 YEAR PARALLAX IN SAN FRANCISCO

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If steel is real, then I don’t know what to call this. The fact that this frame is still standing surprises me. I’ve been riding this MASH Parallax frame for more than 2 years now and it has taken every bit of abuse I’ve thrown at it. The photo above is a shot that I’ve been wanting to get for a while. I’d be willing to go as far as to say I’ve had daydreams about it. I spent probably 20 minutes laying on the street shooting up before James Grady & Jake Ricker rolled up. Plenty of people walked passed looking down wondering why in the hell I was laying in the gutter. Completely worth it.

One final thought. People always ask me what’s up with the tennis ball. To be honest, I just found one on the street one day. The Chrome Industries HQ used to be around the corner from the Bay Tennis Club. Leaving the gutters lined with neon green gems all the time. But for the most part I just tell them it’s my spedometer.

Gary Zhen’s 93′ Cannondale Track. Anytime somebody wheeled a rad track bike into Chrome HQ I’d pull it into our makeshift studio and get some quick stills of it. I’m starting to acquire quite a few playing cards at this point. It feels like I’m back to playing Pokemon. Gotta catch em all. I’ll be getting the studio put back together this week and will be making a call to arms for anybody in Portland who wants their bike photographed. I’ll keep you posted. BIKE CHECK – SPENCER SIEGRIST
