OAKLAND FAMILY PORTRAIT

FGFS_WheelTalk_OaklandCA_Squad2015A couple weeks ago we all met up in Oakland to hang out and cruise around the East Bay. We spent most of the day stacking clips at Dragon Park, before we all had our fill and ventured elsewhere in search of a change of scenery. In that search, I stopped the caravan and pulled everybody aside to take this photo. So much of our efforts are spent filming that we often times forget to shoot any photos. I figured we might as well get one, and you’re looking at it. Left to Right – Matt Reyes, Ramon Antonio III, Ian Walker, Mike Schmitt, Andy Sparks

RAMON ANTONIO – BIKE CHECK

Ramon Antonio recently built up a new FGFS bike, so we took the time to shoot some photos of it before he runs it into the ground from everyday wear and tear. The definition of a Fixed Gear Freestyle bike has changed dramatically, and it’s wild to recollect on how the evolution of the geometry has changed over the last decade. This might be the farthest thing removed from where we originally started, and I’m not sure if this is the final solution, but it’s definitely a sick looking build and is on the far end of the spectrum. Check out a complete parts breakdown as well as more photos below.

RAMON ANTONIO – THIETH SHIRT

I managed to grab these photos while we were roaming around the city filming for Ramon Antonio’s Welcome to the TURF Mob video. I still can’t believe that he was able to jump up that loading dock as many times as he did. I took on look at it, and knew I didn’t have hops like that. If you haven’t seen his section yet you can check it out HERE or on the TURF website. It’s riddled full of huge double pegs, toboggans, and suicide no handers. Be on the look out for more coming from Ramon now that we ride w/ him nearly everyday of the week. Head over to the THIETH Webstore for more great shirts like this one w/ the Nike swoosh.

FGFS SUPER BOWL SUNDAY 2015

Nothing brings a family together like the Super Bowl, and we couldn’t agree more. For this year’s big game, we hit the streets of San Francisco for a day filled of false starts, interceptions, city poop, field goals and the occasional trick or two. I woke up Sunday morning, made a couple calls and met up with the dudes downtown where we rode from the late afternoon until the sunset. This is what you can find us doing on any given weekend. 35MM – JAOA DANAIKRIT 2014

With the new year right around the corner I took the time today to go through and post some photos from when Jaoa Danaikrit was staying with us in the Bay Area earlier this year. My personal favorite photo from this set is the shot of Jaoa standing next to my Dad (Wheel Talk Team Manager) after a long day at the horse races in Berkley. There’s nothing like betting on ponies, drinking dollar beers, and eating hot dogs while spending quality time with the family. The shot of everybody posted up next to the Rack Solid van was from the day we filmed the “Alameda Send Off” video of the Thai dudes last day in town. Read more below or check out more 35mm photos HERE.

TURF BIKES – SUNDAZE EP.7

With the rain holding up for the day, we took advantage of the cloudy weather to ride in the eye of the storm we seem to be stuck in. Gus Molina took the ferry into The City to meet up with us and ride around Japan Town. Ramon Antonio & I both stacked a couple rail clips to add to the ever growing pile off footage we’ve been sitting on. Mike Schmitt found this hubba and thought he had a spot until the run up proved to be too short, so we quickly labeled it “wack” and moved on. As quickly as I mentioned it stopped raining, it went right back to dumping buckets and looks like its going to continue to do so for the rest of the week. Check out more photos below, or lurk through photos from some of the other Sunday adventures we’ve had in the past.

RAMON ANTONIO | ALAMEDA 2014

On Sunday I strapped my bike to the roof of Ramon Antonio the III’s car and hopped in as we drove across the Bay Bridge on our way to Gus & Dave’s house in Alameda. We came across this section of cement where a tree had peeled back the concrete enough to create a decent sized lip that launched you out onto the opposing sidewalk. Ramon clicked some toboggans for the camera before we headed on our way in search of other spots that had fallen through the cracks during the short time we lived there. When it comes to grinding, it’s great having people around who have different dominant sides. It opens up more spots and is a clear determining factor on who should catch the clip there. Ramon has been stacking a ton of rail shots lately and was able to add another one to that list while we were there. Be on the look out for video from this day whenever we accumulate enough for a new section.

Considering the fact that Gus Molina and Dave Beard recently moved into our old pad on the island I thought I’d introduce them to some of the spots lurking around their neighborhood. Here’s a few photos that I took of Gus as we cruised around Alameda in search of a new building to explore or a new spot to ride. We ended up finding this ledge with angle iron which Gus did a few Levitator/Butcher Grinds before getting a flat in the sea of glass surrounding it. Luckily there was a bike shop near by, so we were able to fix the flat with ease and continue on our journey. I’ve only ridden with Gus a handful of times and am stoked to have him living here in the Bay Area. Be on the look out for more photos from our lazy Sunday later this week. (12.7.14)

HARNESS THE GNARNESS VIDEO

It’s a wrap folks. After a couple weeks in the editing booth this is the official coverage of the first Harness The Gnarness Jam in Oakland. Big thanks to everyone who came out to ride, film, kick it and make this event such a good time. It couldn’t have been done without you. We plan to make it a series of Jams hosted by different riders in the city of their choice. So keep your ear to the ground because this may be the first, but it certainly won’t be the last. Check out some screen shots below.
