MIKE & MATT | TRAIL BLAZING

There’s nothing better than mobbing around w/ your friends, it’s probably the best part about riding. Hitting obstacles as they come, and crushing shit along the way. Mike and I are constantly exploring Golden Gate Park by linking together different trails. We’re always stumbling upon new spots in locations we thought we knew well. My good friend and roommate Bryan Dempler popped off this photo of us crushing down one of the many off beaten paths.

MATT REYES CADENCE TROUSERS

I recently picked up a pair of the Cadence Raw Sienna Trousers after most of my jeans blew out. It’s hard to find pants that can withstand a lot of saddle time. The double layer of denim on the ass really helps keep these pants alive, and the 3% Lycra makes me feel like i’m not even wearing anything. (more…)

MATT REYES | BACK ALLEY

Here’s a photo that Devon Lawson took of me as we were cutting through some back alleyways on our way home one night. We ended up pulling over to cop some photos and session this construction barrier for a while. It was almost like it they made it to be riden. Trick – 180 on half cab off.

MATT REYES + SPECIALIZED 2012

Here’s a video I chopped together using a bunch of footage from late 2012. I’ve been riding for Specialized for a couple of years now, and they’ve done a ton to help push me into getting where I am today. Big thanks to JeffyD, Mike Schmitt and everyone who helped me film this. Sometimes it’s real difficult getting clips of yourself when you’re always stuck behind the camera. Filmer/Rider dudes, you feel my pain. I’ve been shooting like a mad man since the beginning of the new year, so be on the lookout for more edits coming out the pipeline.

MATT REYES | SF THROWBACK

In light of today, I did a little digging and found this second angle of an X-Up I did while filming w/ the iMiNUSD Team in SF nearly 2 years ago. Here’s a screen shot from the front. I swear my wrists have never felt the same since that day. It’s a shame that this spot just recently got dug out.

FILMING WITH DEVON LAWSON

Last week Devon Lawson and I went out to catch clips of tricks we’ve been eying for quite some time now. Riding everything from the College campus up the street to the ledge at the bus stop on the corner. Felt good to finally get a camera out and knock out shit in our own neighborhood.

MATT REYES | PFIX COLORWAY

Last week I popped off a few photos of my most up to date Specialized PFIX, w/ the help of Anthony Combs. Personally, I don’t think my bike has ever looked this good. Nice and broken in, w/ a hint of battle scars to prove it. Yet still as solid as the day I first put it together. People always ask me when I’m going to get a new frame, and I honestly don’t know. This one has held up for so long, that I don’t plan on switching it out anytime soon. Read More to see what’s good under the hood. (more…)

WHEEL TALK | THANKSGIVING

Here’s an edit that Jeff & I filmed in the hour we spent riding at the local school in our neighborhood. All shot on location in Gilroy California moments before we ate our Thanksgiving dinners. I did a little introduction in the beginning, so I wouldn’t to spend the time writing up a post that nobody is going to read anyways. Sit back and enjoy this dual edit of the current Wheel Talk Team, Jeff and I.

UPROAR 2012 | MATT REYES BHSK

Bomb Hills Speed Kills did a pretty killer job covering the event, and personally I think the photos he shot from up top the crows nest turned out the best. Partially because of the unique angle and brightly lit background, which creates great contrast. BHSK has an established style and overall consistent look to his photographs. It’s the style of the photographer that tells you who shot it without having to read the photo credit. Check out more of his photos from the Pro Comp HERE.

UPROAR 2012 | MATT REYES XUP

Here’s another photo from the 2012 AFC Uproar that I pulled from Alberto Fox’s Flickr. I spent most of the time shooting video, and only took a few photo’s that day. Which is why I was stoked to see so many photos popping up from all over. Xup’s are another trick that I haven’t done in a while. I still need to check out the new skatepark they just built in SF, hit me up if you wanna roll w/.
