MASHSF – RV-70 WATER BOTTLES

H2O is better. These new MASH SF water bottles are super fun. I’m glad Mike laced me up with the loud color combos, I’ve been in serious need of some vibrancy in my life. Everything I own is black… or gray. I’m sure you can relate. Check them out HERE and don’t worry, they still made them in both black and olive green which is basically camo in my book.

MASHSF – STEEL FRAMESET “KEEP MOVING FORWARD”

Forever Forward. One of the first things I noticed when the box from MASHSF showed up on my doorstep was that it had the words “Keep moving forward” written across the top and side. When I popped open the box I saw that same slogan slapped on the underbelly of the bottom bracket. The more I admired it the more I began to dig into its underlying meaning. I’m a big fan of discoverable easter eggs like this, anything that makes you think. It’s a really nice touch.

I always love hanging my bike up on a street sign and shooting it from below. It removes all the unwanted signage at ground level and provides a view of the city most never look up to see. It’s something I do quite a bit and am constantly looking for the perfect corner or set of buildings as a backdrop. Every city has different street lights/signs and I could barely reach the ones we have here in Portland. I had to climb on an electrical box or shimmy up a pole for a couple of these shots. Check out more photos below, or head to MASHSF to see more of their new Steel Framesets.

MASHSF – STEEL FRAME “SECOND DAY VIDEO”

Quick little jammer from my second day on the new MASHSF Steel Frame. I’ve been riding the frame for about a week now and I can already feel this new found sense of confidence being back on a steel build. The homies Ramon & Devin shot these clips of me breaking in the new bike on our way back to the office after a long and exciting day of work. I shot two other videos for Chrome Industries that day and am super excited to see them come out later next month. Keep your eyes peeled, check out some screenshots below and enjoy this video. MASHSF – STEEL SS FRAMESET “SILVER SMOKE”

If you build it they will come. MASHSF has been cooking up fresh new frames of their own for quite some time now and the day has finally come for our first look at what they’ve been building. I hadn’t seen too much leading up to the release and was as stoked as anyone else to see what they whipped up. Here are some of the first photos I took of my new MASH Steel SS Frameset. I’m really feeling the Silver Smoke colorway Mike kicked over. It has this really rustic and worn look while still holding onto this brilliant shine. It’s truly a work of art and looks even better in person. If you’re in San Francisco anytime soon I suggest you swing by the shop and check it out. More photos to come, until then check out more on MASH.

WHEEL TALK – SHAKY STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO

It’s hard to believe that this is the camera that we used to film the first Wheel Talk videos. Video cameras sure have come a long way since this. The one redeeming factor of this camera is how small and portable it is. Not to mention the fact that it’s nearly impossible to make video look this shitty anymore.

Anyways, here’s an assortment of pocket clips using the flip cam from the last time I was back home in SF. It always feels good to be back among a sea of familiar faces and visit places with a whole different sense of awareness and appreciation. Hits me right in the feels. Everytime. There’s some clips of John Cardiel sandwhiched in the middle of this from when we were filming the Chrome X Antihero video. Some of my favorite footage in this is of everybody at the MASH STORE just hanging out. It’s such a hub for the community that it’s pretty much a guarantee that some of your friends are already there. Loitering mostly, but playing our part and getting to know eachother better one day at a time. Thanks Mike.

SLAM DUNK ERNIE & THE CHROME INDUSTRIES WARSAW II

First things first, everyone follow @SLAMDUNKERNIE. Glad we got that outta the way. There’s a couple things that I never leave the house without, and this bag is one of them. Not only does it fit my entire life, it holds one of the most important pieces of it. Ernie. The Warsaw 2.0 from Chrome Industries has more pockets than you’d ever know what to do with, as well as a couple hidden stash pockets. Very important. It’s my go to travel bag, and fits overhead as a carry on. Even more important. Whether it’s 3 months, or 3 hours this bag is there through it all.

MASH PARALLAX – TURNING OF THE TIDE

This doesn’t happen where I’m from. For starters the trees in San Francisco never change colors. They’re green year round. But here in Portland not only do the trees change, but so do the seasons. I’m still scared to see what winter brings, but we’re hopeful and optimistic. Yesterday the combination of light and trees looked so good that I dropped everything, grabbed my camera and shot these quick photos of my track build. It’s a MASH SF Parallax frame, for those who are wondering, but you probably already knew that. I’ll stop talking now, check out more below.

BIKE CHECK – GEORGES MAHAPROM’S MASH PARALLAX

Georges Mahaprom, better known as “Milk Tea Rider” is one of the many young cats coming up through San Francisco’s fixed gear scene. I’d always run into him in the sunset, at the MASH shop, or somewhere along Market Street. He’s always on this bike. His endless enthusiasm makes him a true pleasure to know and is always somebody I’m excited to see. Keep ripping Georges.

MASH SF – 10 YEAR PARALLAX IN SAN FRANCISCO

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If steel is real, then I don’t know what to call this. The fact that this frame is still standing surprises me. I’ve been riding this MASH Parallax frame for more than 2 years now and it has taken every bit of abuse I’ve thrown at it. The photo above is a shot that I’ve been wanting to get for a while. I’d be willing to go as far as to say I’ve had daydreams about it. I spent probably 20 minutes laying on the street shooting up before James Grady & Jake Ricker rolled up. Plenty of people walked passed looking down wondering why in the hell I was laying in the gutter. Completely worth it.

One final thought. People always ask me what’s up with the tennis ball. To be honest, I just found one on the street one day. The Chrome Industries HQ used to be around the corner from the Bay Tennis Club. Leaving the gutters lined with neon green gems all the time. But for the most part I just tell them it’s my spedometer.
