SHREDWELL2 | TEASER

Colby Elrick put together this teaser for Chrome, of our trip down south filming for Shredwell2. This video barely even scratches the surface of the amount of footage we have piled up for this full length. It’s going to put Fixed Freestyle on a whole new level.

ED WONKA + SHADES

Caught this footage of Ed Wonka riding a vinyl cruiser and hanging out w/ his dog Shades out front of his house in San Jose. He’s been off the bike while he recovers from a recent surgery on both wrists, and has been keeping busy any way he can.

SHREDWELL2 | CLOSE UPS

Pulled these close up screen grabs of Devon Lawson & I (Matt Reyes) from the Grime’s trip down to LA to film for Shredwell2. I went with the Grime team, to capture and contribute to the week long onslaught. Where Ed, Mike, Devo, Ant, Hambone, & I ran through some of the most famous Skate Spots in SoCal. Conquering what we sought out to get, and continuing to push limits of what can be done on these bikes.

SHREDWELL2 | SKATE CLIPS

Pulled these Screen Shots of some of the skate clips we got while we were down in LA filming for Shredwell2. The photo on top is of Krillz pushing around SF just before we headed down to SoCal in the Chrome Van. The second photo is of Jake hitting a board slide down Hollywood High’s 12 stair handrail. He ended up coming off the rail perfect, then blasted off the filming deck and suffered a possible broken hand.

A DAY IN SJ

Last weekend I took the train down to San Jose to do some riding and filming with everyone out there. Christian Hamrick just moved out to the West Coast and got a place in DTSJ w/ Mike Schmitt. It seems like everyone from the East Coast is making their way West. The top photo is a group shot of Hambone’s Bike, and the bottom is a shot of just about everyone. (Ed, Mike, Scott, Devon, Hamrick, Montoya, & Jeff)

BOOTHBY | SCREEN SHOTS

On Sunday, everyone’s favorite, Joshua Boothby made his way across the Bay to ride Street w/ Mike & I in SF. We managed to get in a few solid hours of filming before the sun went down on us. This curved hubba is one of the most beautiful left side ledges I’ve ever seen. Boothby put on quite a show for the tourists walking along the beach as he racked around this buttery ass Hubba in front of Ghirardelli Square. We even took a minute to stop and do interviews with a family for their home videos. Broke down what’s good w/ Fixed Freestyle in the Bay, and the world at large.

MIKE | SCREEN SHOTS

Here’s a look at some of the footage I shot of Mike Schmitt filming for Shredwell 2 on Day 1 of his stay in San Francisco. Mike can shred just about anything, and is always looking for innovative ways of riding spots. Check out more below. (more…)

THE INEVITABLE

I remember going through tubes, and entire patch kits on the daily when I ran 700’s, but as rare of an event it is riding 26’s, flat tires are an inevitable part of riding bikes. Flats are the easiest way to put a damper on your day, and completely ruin a session. And with daylight savings in full effect, the amount of usable light to film with is dramatically shortened. Making it hard to get in a full days work unless you’re up and ready early enough to catch the good light. Here’s a screenshot of Mike fixing a flat from coming up short on an up rail. When is the last time you found yourself w/ a flat?

GABE | THE DESCENT

Here’s a screen shot I pulled last weekend of Ed giving 14 year old Gabe Alcantar some last minute advice before riding down this beast of a drop. He drew up quite the crowd during the time he spent on top the building, sizing up the drop. Cars, bikers, pedestrians all stopped and pulled out their iPhones, iPads, and cameras to record Gabe ride off this shit. We began to draw a pretty substantial crowd of on lookers until the inevitable Police Car rolled up on the spot. It was now or never, so Gabe gave it one final crank and hurled himself off the bank to drop.

SNOW SESSIONS

I was in Wyoming for the Holidays, and I brought along w/ me my bike. Spent some time riding around in what surprisingly little snow there was this year. I even had the chance to ride the new Green River Bike Park which was a park full of snow covered dirt jumps, and ladder runs stretching around its perimeters.
