9 STATES JAM | MATT REYES

Our journey to Japan for the 9 States Jam was by far the most exciting trip I’ve ever been on. I was real stoked to hang out and ride with everybody at the jam. I’m pretty sure we slapped a Wheel Talk sticker on every bike in the place. Not to mention laced everybody up with Breezy Excursion & Us Versus Them gear. It’s good to see that the Fixed Freestyle scene in Japan is alive and well. See more of the photos Bob_Woods took HERE. Photo Credit : Bob_Woods

ED WONKA & MATT REYES NY

I’m stoked to be going on another trip w/ Ed Wonka. It seems like we’ve been on all the same trips over the last year, which I hope is a trend that continues to happen. We took this on my first venture out to the east coast where I stayed with Ed out in Brooklyn. We rode passed this spot, and decided to turn around to check it out. There’s nothing better than putting together makeshift ramps on location. These boards that we found next to the spot proved fruitful as we set one up as a launch onto the loading dock. I can’t wait to be back in NY riding street again.

ED WONKA | COMING TO JAPAN

It’s official, with the help of Chrome Industries & Rinng, the homie Ed Wonka was able to do some last minute planning and is now going to come with us to Japan later this month. During our stay we’ll be at Nine States Jam as well as doing a mini tour across the country. If you want to meet up with us while we’re there, shoot me a message HERE and I’ll keep you updated w/ our whereabouts. To everyone out in Japan, we’ll see you in the next few days.

DEW SIPPAWIT | NY CHINA TOWN

Riding street in New York with Dew Sippawit gave me a whole new outlook on how Fixed Freestyle should be filmed. I’ve been focusing on capturing the commuter side of riding fixed, by shooting more follow lines through the city of on the curb off the curb type tricks. Dew is easily one of the most talented riders out there, and never ceases to amaze me with how dialed he is on a bike. Here’s a photograph of him posted up next to his custom built SKYLMT frame in New York’s China Town.

DEVON LAWSON | RELOCATING

Devon Lawson just recently moved out of the house in search of greener pastures and was replaced by Mike Schmitt. Who knows what’s in store for Devon next. There’s been word of a possible move to either New York or Southern California. I guess we’ll have to wait and see as only time will tell. Whatever the case may be he’ll still be tearing it up on his bike and spreading the good word.

WHEEL TALK INVADES JAPAN 2013

On August 21st Devon Lawson and I (Matt Reyes) are flying out to Japan with Seitaro Iki to take part in a couple of events and do a 9 State tour across the country. We’ll be in Nagasaki at Koe Skatepark to ride in the Nine States Jam on August 25th 2013, and will be in Tokyo for the last few days of our trip. We’re both real stoked to be a part of this and check out the Fixed Freestyle scene outside of our own backyard. If you live out in Japan and want to ride with us, shoot me a message HERE and we’ll try to meet up sometime during our 2 week stay.

DEW & JAOA IN SAN FRANCISCO

Dew’ Sippawit and Jaoa Danaikrit came from Thailand to San Francisco for the 2013 Red Bull Ride & Style. They’ve been staying at my house since the event, and have been crushing all the street spots out here while they’re still in the states. Needless to say, I’m real stoked to have them here and can’t even believe some of the tricks they’ve been pulling. Keep your eyes peeled for more from them in the near future. (more…)

RIDE + STYLE 2013 | JBALL

Johnathan Ball, better known as “JBALL” came up to San Francisco for Ride & Style and stayed at my house for a few days. We mucked it around the city, and checked out some of what SF has to offer. Homie is mad consistent, I couldn’t believe how hard he was flicking his 5 cabs on those big wheels. There’s not very many people doing tricks on 700’s these days, as more kids continue to make the switch to 26’s. When I asked him if he’d ever make the leap, he said that he’s tried them before, but doesn’t plan on converting over anytime soon.
