FGFS PORTLAND – RAMON ANTONIO NEW BIKE, NEW YEAR

Ramon Antonio recently built up this pretty pink Master Bike Co frameset and I must say it sure does photograph beautifully. Not only is it photogenic, but it rides like a dream. The rear end is so short it makes pulling up to hop snappy and effortless. Don’t just take my word for it, take a look at some of these shots of Ramon taking it out for a spin.

The sun doesn’t come out much here in Portland, but when it does we try to make the most of it. Except for today. Today it was amazing outside and I hardly left the house. But that’s neither here nor there. Fingers crossed for more sunny days to come. I’ll have to do a bike check of his new build real soon, until then check out more photos from our day out below.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – RAMON ANTONIO’S LEADER 721

It’s the final countdown. With only hours left until we rang in the new year, Ramon Antonio III and I grabbed our track bikes and went for a cold jaunt around the neighborhood. After a while of roaming around, we stumbled across this open junk yard stacked full of pallets. We hung out and spent probably 20 minutes there shooting Ramon’s bike. There’s nothing better than exploring new places and riding without a destination.

It’s been awhile since Ramon had a fully functioning track build. We’ve been riding FGFS for so long we almost forgot how easy it is to pedal something with 28c tires and full leg extension. His Leader 721-TR looks hard with the flat black everything. Ninja mode at night. Check out more photos below. (more…)

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – THE 11th HOUR OF 2017

See ya never 2017. Yesterday the sun came out, the ice melted and the roads dried off. So Devin Tolman, Ramon Antonio & I grabbed our wheels and hit the streets hard. Apparently seeing the sun this time of year is a real rarity. I still don’t believe it yet. In my mind the sun is shining everyday. It’s just hidden beneath a thick layer of clouds is all.

I’ve harshed Portland for not being a real city since we got here. But everyday, little by little, I’m starting to see it. Especially in these photos of us riding around it’s downtown. I’m so used to shooting in direct sunlight, that it’s nice to be somewhere where it both looks and feels brick out.

Check out 20-something more photos below, and keep your eyes peeled for more fixie content coming straight outta Portland. 2018 is less than a day away and it can’t be here soon enough.

WHEEL TALK MOVES TO PORTLAND

Welcome to Portland. Earlier this Summer we packed our bags and moved outta San Francisco, setting our sights north to the PNW. Ramon Antonio showed me around the first couple days and played tour guide showing me some of what Portland has to offer. It’s always refreshing visiting, let alone moving to a different city. Here is some shaky handheld clips from the pocket cam we used to make all of our first videos. Buckle your seatbelt, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

120MM – ARIZONA 2016

I’m not sure how it happens, but everything that’s shot on the Hasselblad 503cx comes out looking like pure gold. Even with film that expired more than 15 years ago. Big thanks to everyone who came out for the event and put up with me constantly herding everyone together for family photos. I know I ask a lot, but having photos to remember these times are worth it in the end. Until next time my dudes.

“Turn your bike sideways and do whatever the hell you want”
were the only words I said when shooting these photos. I wish I could have captured a profile photo of everyone who came out the the Prickly Pear Jam in Arizona, but I only walked away with portraits of these 8 during the 3 days we were there. Scroll through and take a look at some all too familiar faces. After that, this concludes my photo coverage of both the jam and my brief stay to the land of the sun, or better put “A sunny place for shady people”. Who knows where the next jam will lead us.

Day One and we’re already sun burnt. Everyone is beginning to trickle in for the Prickly Pear Jam Saturday. It’s been 100+ degrees each day we’ve been here and I’m already in the market for an endless amount of sun screen, a bigger hat, and a sweat towel. We’ve wasted no time in getting broken off and feeling like death at the end of the day. Check out a bunch photos from the first day of our trip here in Arizona and be on the look out for more photos rolling out in the next couple of days.

THE TRUTH DON’T STOP

It’s hard to tell how difficult some tricks are when they’re being blasted one after another, and you don’t have a chance to fully digest what happened. It’s an editing style that’s common in action sports and will either drops jaws or glue eyes to the screen. After I watch video part that’s almost too impressive it makes me either stoked to go out and ride, or throw in the towel and call it a day. So in an effort to humanize the whole experience, we decided to slow things down a bit and rewind some old footage from the last year.
