WHEEL TALK + SPL PICTURES

A while back we teamed up with our friends at SPL Pictures to film this Slow Motion video in San Francisco. Everything was shot on the Sony FS700 and RED Epic, with Cine-Xenar III lenses provided by Schneider Optics. Special thanks to Solid Camera for outfitting the FS700’s for the shoot & our dudes Chris Marino, Tyler Lee Cushing, and Scott Lyman for coming out to film. Without their help, this video would not have been possible. Enough talking, if you want to learn more, check out the vimeo page if not, press play. Watch it HERE

9 STATES JAM | MATT REYES

Our journey to Japan for the 9 States Jam was by far the most exciting trip I’ve ever been on. I was real stoked to hang out and ride with everybody at the jam. I’m pretty sure we slapped a Wheel Talk sticker on every bike in the place. Not to mention laced everybody up with Breezy Excursion & Us Versus Them gear. It’s good to see that the Fixed Freestyle scene in Japan is alive and well. See more of the photos Bob_Woods took HERE. Photo Credit : Bob_Woods

MATT REYES | FILMING IN SF

A few weeks ago JeffyD, Mikul Eriksson and his crew made it up to SF to meet up with Matt Reyes and make use of the Canon C100 they rented. The day was full of fast tricks and faster riding all over the city, with a lot of commuting footage with some tricks mixed in. Above is a photo of Matt blasting a curb cut over the fire hydrant. Below is Matt getting sideways over the city, into the steepest hill of the day. (more…)

ED WONKA & MATT REYES NY

I’m stoked to be going on another trip w/ Ed Wonka. It seems like we’ve been on all the same trips over the last year, which I hope is a trend that continues to happen. We took this on my first venture out to the east coast where I stayed with Ed out in Brooklyn. We rode passed this spot, and decided to turn around to check it out. There’s nothing better than putting together makeshift ramps on location. These boards that we found next to the spot proved fruitful as we set one up as a launch onto the loading dock. I can’t wait to be back in NY riding street again.

MATT REYES + WHEEL TALK 2013

Big thanks to everyone who helped me film this, there’s too many names to list, but you know who you are. If you both ride and film then I’m sure you know how hard it is to catch clips when you’re behind the lens all the time. Filmed during the course of 2013 in both San Francisco and New York. After riding on both ends of the US I’ve come to the conclusion that the West Coast needs more cellar doors. They were by far my favorite bit of riding street in NY. To add to that last thought, NY needs more hills because that’s where some of the best spots hide. It’s already been a good year for Fixed Freestyle, and I have a feeling it’s only going to get better. (more…)

WHEEL TALK INVADES JAPAN 2013

On August 21st Devon Lawson and I (Matt Reyes) are flying out to Japan with Seitaro Iki to take part in a couple of events and do a 9 State tour across the country. We’ll be in Nagasaki at Koe Skatepark to ride in the Nine States Jam on August 25th 2013, and will be in Tokyo for the last few days of our trip. We’re both real stoked to be a part of this and check out the Fixed Freestyle scene outside of our own backyard. If you live out in Japan and want to ride with us, shoot me a message HERE and we’ll try to meet up sometime during our 2 week stay.

MATT REYES & DEVON LAWSON

Seitaro Iki took this photo of Devon Lawson and I on our way home from riding the industrial part of San Francisco. We’ve been broadening our reach in search of new spots in areas of town we rarely visit. What makes this photo even better is that Devon did the barspin on a flat rear tire. Ringing or walking home w/ a flat tire blows, no pun intended, which is why we’ll do anything we can to make it interesting.

MATT REYES | FREEWAY WALLRIDE

On the 4th of July we went out and rode parts of the city that we rarely ever visit. The homie Seitaro Iki snapped this photo of Devon Lawson filming me hitting a curb cut to wallride underneath the freeway. I’ve been doing some serious spot lurking lately and have been coming across some hidden gems. San Francisco is stacked full of shit to shred. Sometimes you just have to open your eyes, climb some hills, and take a deeper look at the surrounding architecture.

MATT REYES | CHURCH & DUBOCE

It’s rare to see me riding rails, but figured I’d catch at least one double peg clip for an edit I’ve been working on while the homies were in town. I wonder if the city knew what they were doing when they installed this steel playground along one of the muni stops in our neighborhood. Photo Credit : Seitaro Iki (top) & Dew Sippawit (bottom)
