Here’s a couple photos that Devon Lawson took of me while we were hanging out in The Mission a while back. If there’s one thing The Mission is good for, it’s quality Mexican food and toys that only cost you a quarter. Check out one of my favorite Premier Fits hats from their tropical series. They’re always coming out with some of the sickest headwear and always encorporate wild fabrics / materials.
Our journey to Japan Last year was a trip that I’ll never forget. We traveled all over the island and saw everything from the lush green farm fields that blanketed the southern tip of Japan, to the dense inner city of Shibuya Tokyo. Although we were only there for a couple short weeks we were able to do a 9 State Tour w/ a bunch of the dudes from Fukuoka and spend some time in Tokyo w/ Marco. The weather was so bloody humid the entire time, that we all became accustomed to carrying around a towel everywhere. We’re going to have to plan another tour in Japan next year.

Yesterday a building in the neighborhood I work in caught on fire and had the whole city talking. If you live anywhere near San Francisco I’m sure you saw pictures of the blaze or perhaps even took some yourself. Smoke could be seen billowing into the sky from across the Bay as the firefighters attempted to fight back the flames. Bryan Dempler & I showed up the next day to find that they were still hosing down the building from nearly every angle on the block. We hung out until we could tell they wanted us to jet, at which point we packed our bags and shot a couple more photos along the Muni tracks on 3rd Street. I wonder what’s for lunch tomorrow?

The ferry is my method of choice when crossing The Bay to and from SF everyday. Bryan Dempler hitched a ride w/ me on our way to Alameda last Saturday to film with a bunch of the local Fixed Freestyle scene here in the Bay Area. That Best (Breezy Excursion) Tee pops off too hard and rings a subtle truth. The Bay is one of the best places to live. It has weather like you wouldn’t believe, one of the largest FGFS communities out there, and a public transportation system allows you to go where ever without having to own an automobile. Personally I don’t have the patience to sit in traffic and prefer to blow hitting obstacles along the way, but that’s just me.

Yesterday Bryan Dempler came to Alameda to interview Mike Schmitt (Above w/ Egg The Dog) & Miles Mathia (Below w/ birds & trees). He’s been filming interview’s with a bunch of the homies as he’s shadowed us over the last couple weeks. There’s been talk of a possible collaboration between the two of us on finishing up the Fixed Freestyle Documentary I started a few years back. Photo Credit : Bryan Dempler
A while back I spent some time w/ Ed Wonka Laforte at his pad in Brooklyn NY. On our way to and from the Williamsburg Bridge we began to notice a bunch of people working on covering an entire city block with Nekst fills. It’s rad to see the community come together to honor a fallen friend. RIP Nekst.
Tommy Mao has been going to school and living in San Francisco for quite some time now. Occasionally he comes out to shred and explore what street spots SF has to offer. I took this picture of him posted up in front of a Mexican market in The Mission a while ago. If anybody has seen Tommy lately, they know this is an older photo of him solely based on the fact that he’s missing the manly beard he’s developed over the last couple of months. There’s nothing like a couple chin hairs to make you look 10 older. Be on the lookout for more photos of Tommy mobbing around w/ us.
Anthony Combs isn’t the only one making moves, Devon Lawson recently moved back to the East Bay after we left our house in The City. Here’s a photo that I took of him while we were riding in West Oakland a couple weeks ago. We’ve been spending a lot of time wrapping up filming for the Turf Bikes “Word is Bond” Video.
Last night, Mike Schmitt and I met up w/ Dave Beard to shoot some photos and get some noodles in The City. I’m real stoked to have Dave living out in our neck of the woods now. It gives us more opportunities to catch some quality flicks like this. Happy Halloween from Wheel Talk & Turf Bikes.
Devon Lawson completely dominated the bunny hop contest at the 9 States Jam by clearing 100cm (1meter). Which was completely mind blowing to me, I took one look at it and knew there was no way I was clearing it. He won the bunny hop contest, and I won the Jam, it was a dual WT finish, and a happy one at that. You can tell by the look on his face in the bottom shot. Head over Bob_Woods’ flickr to check out some of the other photos he took at the jam. Photos : Bob_Woods (top) / Froots (bottom)
