35MM | A SEA OF CHANGE

I carry my 35mm camera around with me everywhere I go and do most of my shooting as I ride around San Francisco. I’ve been most interested in capturing the sea of changes that SF is currently undergoing. There’s been an increased amount of construction and demolitions going on around the city and I’ve been hellbent on shooting every bit of it. Read More below to check out some other shots, or browse more 35mm photos on my flickr HERE.

TURF BIKES | SUNDAZE EP.4

Given the fact that we shoot most of our stills on 35mm film, the TURF Sundaze posts are always about a week behind. Last Sunday we roamed around Oakland with Egg The Dog, a regular addition to The Mob. He’s either strapped to Mike’s back or running along side us as we lurked from spot to spot. Check out more photos below. (more…)

DEVON LAWSON | FINAL HOURS

These are the last photos I took of Devon Lawson on American soil before he flew overseas on a trip to Thailand. He’s been spending time w/ Jaoa Danaikrit (the only international member of the Wheel Talk Team), Dew Sippawit, and the rest of the Fixed Freestyle scene out there before he heads back to the states in time for the 2014 Red Bull Ride & Style. If you haven’t heard that Red Bull Ride & Style is coming back to San Francisco, then you probably live under a rock. Everybody and their mother has been posting about it, and it looks like it’s going to be a riot as always. So mark your calender and I’ll see you there. Photo Credit : Matt Reyes 35mm

TURF BIKES | SUNDAZE EP.3

Here’s a bunch of 35mm shots that we took last weekend for the third installment of the TURF Sundaze Series. There’s few things more rewarding than shooting action shots on film. It’s a fingers crossed kind of business where knowledge of your craft makes all the difference. For this week’s installment Mike Schmitt & I showed up at Ed’s house unannounced. Part of which made me feel like a kid again, back when showing up to a friend’s house to see if they can come out and play was mandatory. After a some morning breakfast at Ed’s we headed into Oakland in search of new shit to shred. We caught a couple flicks and then headed back into Alameda where we explored some abandoned buildings on the base. Check out more photos from last Sunday below. Photo Credit : The Turf Mob (more…)

35MM | MOB MENTALITY

I rarely shoot digital photos anymore and use my dslr strictly for video purposes. Now a days most of the photography I do is done on 35mm film with an Olympus OM1. Here’s some of the last photos I shot of Seitaro Iki before he flew back to Japan the next morning. Everyone came out to say goodbye to Seitaro at one point or another, but for the most part we cruised around in force like we always do. He made a lot of friends while he was here we were all torn to see him leave. I think Andy Sparks put it best, “This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later”. Check out more 35mm photos HERE (more…)

35MM | MATT REYES IVORY GATES

Everyday I make my way in and out of San Francisco by passing beneath miles of steel that make up the Bay Bridge. Living across the water has given me a greater appreciation for the city than living in it ever has. We have the good view of The City here in the East Bay, especially at dusk. Shout out to Mike Schmitt for shooting this photo of me doing a hard 180 in front of an audience of statues guarding the chapel’s double doors. I just dropped off a couple more rolls this week, and can’t wait to see how they turn out. Check out more 35mm captures HERE.

35MM | ED WONKA SOMA FIRE

Last week Ed Wonka showed up to my work right as a massive fire broke out in the Soma here in San Francisco. We quickly grabbed our bikes and smashed over to the block where the fire was brewing. As we came up on the building we could feel the heat from the flames and the mist of the water being blasted at it’s exterior. We shot photos until we could tell it was getting out of hand, at which point we retreated back to watch the fire from a safe distance. 35mm Olympus OM1 Click below to see more. (more…)
